He said, there is no need to panic. Hospital officials also said there was no emergency. RBI will soon issue a formal statement regarding the health of the Governor.
Shaktikanta Das’s tenure as RBI Governor is going to end on December 10, 2024. It is believed that the government may exchange his tenure for the second consecutive time. If this happens, then Shaktikanta Das will create history and make the record of serving as Governor for the longest period after 1960. Shaktikanta Das was appointed to the post of governor after the resignation of former RBI Governor Urjit Patel in December 2018. At that time the relations between RBI and the Central Government had soured.
India faced this crisis boldly during the Corona period when Shaktikanta Das was the governor. RBI then supported the sectors affected by Corona (Covid-19), provided liquidity and during that time a huge decline in interest rates was also seen.
