Kathua 26 November (Hindus). District Development Council Kathua Chairman Retired Colonel Mahan Singh chaired a meeting to assess the physical and financial progress of the District Development Plan 2024-25.
At the beginning of the meeting, CPO Ranjit Thakur said that out of 1,768 works approved for the current financial year, tenders for 1,747 have been done, while 870 projects have already been allotted. He said that 29 percent of the total allocated budget has been utilized in various development projects. The status of ongoing works under various schemes was also discussed in detail. Chairman Mahan Singh urged the executive agencies and members of the PRIs to intensify their efforts to achieve the set targets within the stipulated time frame. He stressed the importance of identifying bottlenecks and resolving them proactively to avoid delays in project implementation. Highlighting the importance of critical sectors, the Speaker stressed on giving priority to expansion of road connectivity and banking facilities in remote and uncovered areas to ensure inclusive growth. He also underlined the need to create sustainable assets that directly benefit larger communities.
During the review, the Chairman expressed satisfaction over the pace of work under key departments including Rural Development, Jal Shakti, PWD, PMGSY, Irrigation, Agriculture, Horticulture, Health and Education. Various issues were also discussed in the meeting, such as expediting the works under JJM, early completion of the cow shed at Keedhian Gandiyal and clearing the pending liabilities under various schemes. Vice President Raghunandan Singh appealed to the council members and district officials to work collaboratively to serve the public effectively and ensure successful implementation of development initiatives. DDC Vice President Raghunandan Singh, ADDC Surinder Mohan, Chief Planning Officer Ranjit Thakur, DDC members and senior district officers of various departments attended the meeting.
