The mega auction of IPL 2025 has been concluded on 24th and 25th November in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. In this auction, many teams took surprising decisions and secured many players for the next three seasons. The upcoming season of IPL is going to be challenging for many teams, because all the teams have more than one player. In this mega auction, some players have gone to such teams where they will hardly get a chance in the playing eleven. Let’s take a look at this.
harry brooke
The biggest name in this list is that of England batsman Harry Brook. Delhi Capitals has once again included him in their team. He played for Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2023. However, here he could not do much with the bat, where he scored 190 runs in 11 matches. After its performance, Hyderabad released it this year. Brook is now back with Delhi Capitals after missing last season due to injury, but considering their poor record in India, he may have to sit on the bench.
Kumar Kushgra
Kumar Kushagra, who played for Delhi Capitals last year, has joined the Gujarat Titans team this year. Gujarat already has a wicketkeeper in Jos Buttler. In such a situation, the team will give him a chance in the playing eleven as a wicketkeeper. While playing for Delhi last year, Kushagre had scored only three runs in four matches. After his performance, Gujarat would hardly have included him in the playing eleven.
Anuj Rawat
Last season, wicketkeeper-batsman Anuj Rawat performed brilliantly for Royal Challengers Bangalore and scored 98 runs in five matches. However, this year Gujarat Titans have selected him as the wicketkeeper. Considering the strong retained core, it is difficult for Anuj Rawat to get a place in the playing eleven.
Devdutt Padikkal
After going unsold in the first round, Devdutt Padikal was sold to his old team Royal Challengers Bangalore at the original price of Rs. 2 crores have been brought back in the second round. He has definitely been included in the team, but it is clear from the auction that he is not the first choice player for RCB. Due to this, he will hardly get a place in the playing eleven.
Arjun Tendulkar
Mumbai Indians, the only team to bid for Arjun Tendulkar, have included him again. As a left-arm medium pacer, Arjun is likely to spend more time on the bench this season. Because Mumbai Indians have a great bowling lineup in the form of Trent Boult, Jasprit Bumrah and Deepak Chahar. Apart from this, he also has Hardik Pandya for the middle overs. Given these circumstances, Arjun’s selection in IPL 2025 will not prove beneficial for Mumbai Indians.
