Imran Khan marched towards Islamabad demanding his release
Activists of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf are marching towards Islamabad demanding the release of jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan. On Monday they entered Islamabad border and are aiming to reach D-Chowk. Strict security arrangements have been made in Islamabad regarding this. Under Article 245 of the Constitution, the army is deployed to maintain law and order.
Supporters violated lockdown
Section 144 is also in force in Islamabad since November 18. Imran Khan’s supporters violated the lockdown imposed by the government in Islamabad. Actually, the last call for protest was given by Imran himself. In which he requested his supporters to march towards Islamabad to demand the release of all PTI prisoners including Imran.
Imran gets 14 years jail and a fine of Rs 20 lakh
Additionally, he asked his supporters to recognize his alleged victory in the February 8 election and demand the repeal of the 26th Constitutional Amendment. The 26th Constitutional Amendment changed the process of appointment of judges and the Chief Justice. In January this year, Imran was sentenced to 14 years in jail and fined Rs 20 lakh in the Toshakha case.
