Commercial coal mines dispatched a record 0.617 million tonnes in a day

New Delhi, 25 November (Hindustan Reporter). Commercial coal mines achieved a historic feat by achieving the highest ever single day dispatch of 0.617 million tonnes (MT) on November 24. This represents a significant increase of 36 per cent compared to the dispatch of 0.453 MT on the same day last year.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Coal Ministry has described the production and dispatch of 0.617 million tonnes in a single day on November 24 from commercial coal mines as a historic achievement for the country. The ministry said that under the Self-reliant India initiative, this is an important step towards realizing the vision of a developed India by reflecting the strong growth of the sector.

According to the ministry, this record dispatch includes providing 0.536 million tonnes of coal to the power sector and 0.081 million tonnes of coal to the non-power sector, reflecting strong performance across multiple sectors of the economy. The Coal Ministry informed that the monthly dispatch progress has reached 12.810 million tonnes, which is a substantial increase from the year-on-year dispatch of 116.373 million tonnes. This shows continued growth in coal production and distribution.

The Coal Ministry has said that this unprecedented achievement also brings forward the transformational measures of commercial coal mining reforms under the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative. Coal production in mines and its dispatch at record levels not only strengthens our energy security but also accelerates our progress towards becoming a developed nation by 2047.
