BJP-Shiv Sena (Shinde) NCP alliance got 49.6 percent votes. Whereas MVA got 35.3 percent votes. Their average margin of victory is also more than double that of MVA. Know the review of assembly election results in 10 points…

1. More than 50% voteshare
There were 154 seats across Maharashtra where candidates got more than 50 percent votes. In 2019 the number of such seats was 129 and in 2014 the number was only 55. In 2024, Mahayuti secured more than 50 percent voteshare on 138 seats. This year, the MVA won 16 seats, with most of its wins coming in close contests.

In Satara, BJP got the highest number of votes on any seat in this election by securing 80.4 percent votes.

3. Colleagues also shined
BJP’s alliance partner Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar-led NCP also performed well. Shiv Sena won 30 per cent of the 57 seats with more than 50 per cent vote share, while the NCP won more than half the vote share in 20 of the 41 seats.

4. Console MVA
If we talk about the victory of MVA with at least 50 percent vote share, then Sharad Pawar led NCP won 6 seats, Congress won 5 seats and Uddhav Thackeray led Shiv Sena won 4 seats. MVA got more than 60 percent voteshare in only 3 seats. The MVA won 7 seats with voteshare between 30 percent and 40 percent and 27 seats with 40 percent to 50 percent.

5. On 22 seats
MVA candidates finished third or lower in 34 seats. The alliance had to lose 22 seats on bail. Whereas there are 11 seats where the vote share fell below 11 percent.

6. Mahayuti’s dominance even in the margin of victory
The margin of victory in Maharashtra elections tells the story of Mahayuti’s excellent performance. Mahayuti’s average margin of victory was more than 40,100 votes, more than double the MVA’s average margin (19,200). Overall, Maharashtra’s average margin of victory was 36,230 votes. Which is much more than 28,440 in 2019 and 22,810 in 2014. This shows that this time the contest was one-sided.

7. Average margin of victory
The average margin of victory of BJP was 42,880 votes. Whereas NCP got 40,480 votes and Shiv Sena got about 33,450 votes more than the second placed candidates. 8. Margin of victory on 16 seats more than 1 lakh
The victory margin on 16 seats in Maharashtra was more than 1 lakh votes. Mahayuti won all these seats. The largest margin of victory in Shirpur was 1.46 lakh. From where BJP got victory. 9. MVA is disappointed here also because
No candidate from the opposition alliance MVA has won by more than 1 lakh votes. In Mumbra-Kalwa, NCP candidate (Sharad Pawar) was the closest with 96,230 votes.

10. Compensation
Mahayuti got more than 50 per cent of the votes in 52 assembly seats where it had lost to the MVA in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Mahayuti won only 17 out of 48 seats in the state.
