Maharashtra Politics: Congress has faced a crushing defeat in the Maharashtra Assembly elections. Due to these poor results, State President Nana Patole has resigned. Nana Patole has taken responsibility for the poor performance in the elections and has resigned from the post of president. Whereas Congress says that Nana Patole’s resignation has not been accepted yet. He will continue to serve as party president. Congress could get only 16 seats
Congress leader Nana Patole himself could win this election by barely 208 votes. Apart from this, two other senior leaders Prithviraj Chavan and Balasaheb Thorat have also faced defeat. Congress could get only 16 seats in the assembly elections. Congress was once the largest party in Maharashtra, but its position has been declining over the last few decades. However, this time being stuck on only 16 seats is shocking.
‘Our leadership is weak’
Congress leaders say that we will consider defeat. Meanwhile, Nana Patole has resigned. Congress sources say that there is an internal fight going on in the party. Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan also said on Saturday, ‘BJP and its allies have benefited from the Ladli Behen Yojana, RSS and the hard work of the leaders. Our leadership is weak. Nana Patole said, ‘Even if we have got the mandate to sit in the opposition, we will work hard. We will keep reminding the government of its promises so that people benefit.
