Hearing in Supreme Court on appointment of CEC, Election Commissioners on March 15

The Supreme Court is ready to hear soon the petition regarding the appointment of the Chief Election Commissioner and Election Commissioners. The Supreme Court will hear this petition on Friday i.e. March 15. ADR's lawyer Prashant Bhushan appealed to the court for early hearing of the case. Regarding this demand, Justice Sanjeev Khanna said that he has been informed by the CJI that the hearing in this case will be held on Friday. According to the petition filed in the court, the government has been demanded to ban the appointment of Chief Election Commissioner and Election Commissioner under the provisions of the new Act related to these appointments. Apart from this, a demand has also been made in the petition to appoint a member of the Election Commission as per the decision given by the Constitutional Bench of the Supreme Court. Two new election commissioners are likely to be appointed by March 15. The selection committee will meet on March 14 as per the convenience of its members.
