The weddings of Busi town of Pali district of Rajasthan are unique. Here some unique customs related to marriage are performed in the temple of Maujiram ji and Maujani Devi.
This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati but here people worship them as Maujiram Ji and Maujani Devi. This temple has special religious importance and thousands of people come here every year.
When someone’s marriage is fixed in the house, the family members pray here, so that all the marriage functions are completed auspiciously and without any hindrance. On the occasion of marriage, this pair of Gods is decorated with henna and perfume in the temple.
Here a unique ritual is performed during the marriage, in which the private parts of the bride and groom are worshiped before the marriage. This puja is done for happiness, peace and prosperity. This ritual is performed with faith and belief. It is believed that doing it properly brings prosperity, happiness and peace in married life.
The groom’s horse is carried in the Bindauri tradition found in Busi. However, instead of singing, people insult each other and dance to it. Only after completing this ritual the bride and groom get married.
After this marriage, the wedding night is performed, but the special thing is that immediately after the wedding night, the bride and groom have to live separately for about a year. During this period they are not even allowed to meet each other.
