Ranchi: After the results of Lok Sabha elections in India, today was a very important day for the BJP led NDA and the Congress led Indian alliance. While on one hand the results of Maharashtra and Jharkhand assembly elections were declared on Saturday, on the other hand by-elections were held in 14 states. Amidst all this, Jharkhand has kept the nose of the India alliance intact, where Jharkhand Mukti Morcha led by Hemant Soren has returned to power. The BJP found it difficult to focus only on infiltration.

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) led by Chief Minister Hemant Soren has won 34 seats in the 81-member Jharkhand Assembly. Hemant Soren, who was jailed on corruption charges before the assembly elections, got people’s sympathy. Hemant Soren won the Barhait seat by 39,791 votes, indicating an increase in his victory margin. Hemant Soren’s wife Kalpana Soren also won from Gandey seat by 17,142 votes with 1,19,372 votes.

In Jharkhand, the ruling party JMM’s Maiya Samman Yojana, 200 units of free electricity, waiver of outstanding electricity bills was a small magic in the assembly. Political pundits are saying that the promises of these schemes played an important role in the victory of JMM. The effect of these schemes of the Chief Minister was seen in the entire state, due to which the public has once again blessed JMM for victory.

After the victory in Jharkhand, Chief Minister Hemant Soren thanked the public and gave credit for the victory to India Alliance. However, BJP in-charge for Jharkhand assembly elections and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma termed BJP’s defeat as sad for him.

Despite aggressive campaigning by many leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, Hemant Sarma in Jharkhand, BJP has faced setbacks. Without the face of the Chief Minister, it was difficult for BJP to enter the election field. BJP could not present the face of any tribal Chief Minister in this election. The party had to pay the price for this. Moreover, the BJP neglected its own leaders in the state and handed over the election campaign to imported leaders.

According to political experts, BJP failed to raise issues related to the public. His election campaign focused on national issues and infiltration. In this respect also, it played an important role in the defeat of BJP. However, former Chief Minister Champai Soren, who joined BJP from JMM before the elections, also won. Champai Soren, known as Tiger of Kolhan, has won from Seraikela assembly seat for the seventh consecutive time. BJP won this only seat reserved for tribals.

According to the Election Commission website, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha has won 34 seats, whereas it had contested 43 seats. Congress has won 16 out of 30 seats. BJP fielded candidates on 68 seats, but could win only 21 seats. A total of 67.74 percent voting took place on 81 assembly seats of Jharkhand in two phases, 43 on November 13 and 38 on November 20.
