School teacher misbehaved with a minor student: A former teacher from Maryland, USA, has been sentenced to 30 years in prison. He was accused of having sexual relations with a minor student several times. However, the student is now in adolescence. The student alleges that his teacher had physical relations with him in the year 2015. Fox 5 DC reports that 32-year-old Melissa Curtis faces up to three decades in prison.
Once released, Curtis will have to register as a sex offender for 25 years and will not be allowed to have unsupervised contact with minors other than his own children. The former teacher was charged on November 7, 2023 with sexual assault of a minor and multiple counts of third- and fourth-degree sex crimes.
Relationships formed more than 20 times
According to Fox 5 DC, the sex crimes occurred between January and May 2015 within Montgomery County, in Curtis’s vehicle and at several residences in the area. Police said Curtis allegedly gave the eighth-grade student alcohol and marijuana and had sex with her more than 20 times. He said Curtis had been a teacher for about two years and also taught at Lakelands Park Middle School.

Prosecutors said the two were often dropped off together when the younger student volunteered at an after-school program run by Curtis, according to court documents. Police began their investigation in October 2023 when the victim came forward to plead guilty to third-degree sex crimes on June 20.
