Dhamtari, 21 November (HIST). The police has arrested a Raigarh thief who stole gold and silver jewelery and cash by breaking the lock of the shutter of a jewelery shop. Action has been taken by seizing jewelery and cash from the accused.
According to the information received from the City Kotwali Police, at 8 o’clock on the night of November 8, the applicant Praveen Verma, son of Radheshyam Verma, resident of Nayapara Ward Dhamtari, had closed the lock of his jewelery shop located at Risaipara Dhamtari and went home. At around 3.30 in the night, after receiving information through phone that the shutter of the shop was half open, the applicant came from home to the shop and saw that the shutter was half open. When I went inside I saw that jewelery was scattered here and there. The total amount of silver jewellery, batex items and cash kept in the shop was Rs 17000, which was not Rs 95000, which was stolen by an unknown thief. After registering the report, the police started searching for the unknown thief.
During the investigation, the unknown accused was being traced by using CCTV footage, technical evidence and informer, then on November 20, on the basis of information received from the informer, the suspected accused Aman alias Army Chauhan, 23 years, resident of Panchdhar police station Sariya, district, was found near bus stand Dhamtari. When the police caught Raigarh and interrogated him strictly, the accused told that on the night of November 8, Radhekrishna was at the jewelery shop Risaipara Dhamtari. After entering the shop by breaking the lock of the shutter, he confessed to stealing silver jewellery, batex jewelery and cash worth Rs 17,000 kept in the shop. Silver jewellery, batex jewelery worth Rs 3 lakh 73640 were recovered from the possession of the accused. The police has duly arrested the accused Army Chauhan and sent him on judicial remand.
