The last date for linking PAN card with Aadhar card has passed. However, according to several media reports, people have been requested to link PAN card with Aadhaar card by 31 December 2024.
According to a report, if PAN card is not linked to Aadhar card by this deadline, the government can deactivate it. Actually, PAN cards which are not linked to Aadhar card have been deactivated from July 1, 2023. The government had fixed June 30, 2023 as the last date for linking PAN with Aadhaar.
Government is collecting Rs 1000 from everyone
According to the information given by the government in Parliament, from July 1, 2023, the government is charging a fine of Rs 1000 for linking inactive PAN with Aadhaar. In February, Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Choudhary had said that till January 29, 2024, 11.48 crore PANs were not linked to Aadhaar cards, except in some categories.
He also informed that from July 1, 2023 to January 31, 2024, the government has collected a total of Rs 601.97 crore from Rs 1000 late fee from individuals who did not link PAN and Aadhaar after the June 30, 2023 deadline.
How to check whether PAN card is linked to Aadhaar or not?
For this, first of all you have to go to the e-filing portal. After this, click on the Aadhaar Status link in the Quick Links section on the homepage of the e-filing portal. After this enter your PAN and Aadhaar number and then click on view link Aadhaar status. After this, it will appear on the display whether the PAN card is linked to Aadhaar or not.
