Gorakhpur, 21 November (HS). A guest lecture on the topic ‘Refractive Opthamology in Pediatrics’ was organized in the Optometry Department of Mahant Avedyanath Paramedical College, running under Mahayogi Gorakhnath University. Senior optometrist and orthoptist Dr. Dev B. was present as the keynote speaker. Pandey gave detailed information about refractive eye disorder in children and its diagnosis.
Dr. Pandey said that the eye is a very sensitive and important organ. The disorders related to this should be taken seriously and attention should be paid to prompt treatment. He said that some children have refractive or refractive errors. In this, the rays of the eyes do not get deposited properly on the retina but start getting deposited in front or behind it. The visual defect can be corrected by wearing spectacles or contact lenses. Refractive surgery is required when the disorder is severe. The goal of refractive surgery is to reduce dependence on glasses or contact lenses.
Welcoming the guest speaker, Rohit Kumar Srivastava, Head of Paramedical College, said that if God had not given us eyes, we would have been deprived of seeing the beautiful things around us. Therefore, we should integrate its care into our lifestyle. The vote of thanks was given by Kunwar Abhinav Singh Rathore, Assistant Professor, Department of Optometry. First and second year students of Optometry Department were present in the program.
