Kathua 20 November (Hindu). Under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua Shobhit Saxena, District Cyber Cell Kathua has demonstrated its commitment to tackle cyber crime by recovering a defrauded amount of Rs 52 thousand.
According to the information, an offline complaint was lodged in Cyber Cell Kathua on July 10, 2024 in which the complainant Nek Singh, son of Joginder Singh, resident of Mukundpur Tehsil Madhheen Kathua told that unknown fraudsters calling themselves police officers called him and said that his son The police have arrested him in the case of rape and murder. After this the complainant tried to contact his son but due to some technical glitch he could not contact him. Then unknown fraudsters demanded money from the complainant and he transferred an amount of Rs 52,000 to the fraudster’s account in several transactions. When the complainant came to know that he was cheated, he reached Cyber Cell Kathua and lodged a complaint. During the investigation Cyber Cell Kathua team took swift action and demonstrated intensive efforts and froze many fraudulent accounts involved in the fraud.
On implementation of the Court order on Wednesday, the defrauded amount totaling Rs 52,000 has been recovered from 03 defrauded accounts and credited back to the victim’s account while further investigation in the case is underway. Relevantly since the date of establishment, Cyber Cell Kathua has successfully recovered the defrauded amount of Rs 35,57,895 till date.
