Bhopal: Bird watching and nature camp started in National Park Van Vihar

Bhopal, 19 November (HS). Bird watching and nature camp was organized on Tuesday in Van Vihar National Park, Bhopal in collaboration with Madhya Pradesh Eco Tourism Development Board. 41 students and 3 teachers of Government Higher Secondary School Boys, Station Bhopal participated in the Nature Camp.

In fact, with a view to develop awareness among the students about forests, wild animals and environment and sensitivity towards nature conservation, a camp was organized for the government schools of Bhopal city and its surrounding villages. Awareness was given by sharing ideas regarding wild animal conservation, environmental protection and protection of forests with the students participating in the camp.

In the camp, the participants were given information about bird watching, butterflies, wild animals and existing forestry activities by the subject experts. Besides, interesting activities related to forests, wildlife and environment were conducted and their curiosities were quenched. Apart from this, observations of wild animals like tiger, leopard, bear, crocodile, gharial, chital, sambar and nilgai were also made. Birds like cormorant, jacana, coot, open bill, stork, woolly neck stork, kingfisher and artificial nests and effigies of birds were also shown in Needam area. Under Mission Life, an oath was also taken by the participants to save the environment. An animation film related to wild animals was also shown to the participating students in the conference hall located in Vihar Vidhika.

Dr. S.R. was the resource person in the program. Waghmare, retired Deputy Forest Conservator, Vijay Nandvanshi, Assistant Director Van Vihar S.K. Sinha and unit in-charge tourism Ravikant Jain were present.
