Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Brazil on Monday to participate in the G-20 summit. Extensive talks took place between PM Modi and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. In this meeting, an action plan was made between India and Italy for the next five years. The plan outlines a number of specific initiatives including defence, trade, clean energy and connectivity.
The India-Italy Action Plan 2025-29 covers economic cooperation, investment, energy, technology, space planning, defence, security, migration, connectivity and mobility.
The concept of working together on global platforms
According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), in talks held on the sidelines of the G20 summit late on Monday, Modi and Maloney agreed to work together in multilateral and global forums to uphold common values of democracy, governance and rule of law and sustainable development. The resolution was adopted.
India-Italy friendship will bring better results!
PM Modi wrote on X, ‘Our conversation focused on strengthening relations in defence, security, trade and technology. We also talked about promoting cooperation in culture, education and other such areas. India-Italy friendship can contribute a lot to better construction.
This was the fifth meeting between the two Prime Ministers (PM Modi and PM Maloney) in the last two years. The last meeting between Modi and Meloni took place in June during the G7 summit in Puglia, Italy.
Announcement of India-Italy Action Plan 2025-29
Following their discussions, the External Affairs Ministry said, the two leaders reiterated their commitment to advance the India-Italy strategic partnership and announced a Joint Strategic Action Plan 2025-29. In which his vision for the next five years is outlined.
Agreement on many issues including defense and security
Under the joint action plan, both the countries agreed on trade, investment, science, technology, clean energy, space, defense and connectivity and other issues. The Ministry of External Affairs said India and Italy will hold regular ministerial and official discussions in a number of areas.
The economy and people of both countries will benefit
The Foreign Ministry said Modi and Meloni agreed to continue working together to implement multilateral strategic initiatives, including the Global Biofuels Alliance and the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor. These schemes will benefit the economy and people of both the countries.
