Tribal costume show becomes center of attraction in International Participation Festival

Lucknow, 18 November (HS). On Monday, the fourth day of the “International Partnership Festival”, there were special performances by artists from Vietnam, while the show of traditional costumes by artists from different regions of India won the appreciation of the audience.

In the cultural programme, before the Indian presentations, traditional costumes were displayed through invited artists. In this, traditional costumes of Uttarakhand, Assam, Chhattisgarh, Kerala, Goa, Bihar increased the attraction of this event. In the Gandi dance of Chhattisgarh, male artists dance on wooden sticks, which they call Gandi. This dance is performed to wish for a good harvest. In this, Dhapra is played along with a Nagadiya like instrument called Nishan. Peacock feathers on the heads of the artists wearing cowrie decorated costumes became an essential part of their dance.

Artists showed amazing tricks in Siddhi Dhamaal dance of Gujarat. Sometimes he spewed a fountain of fire from his mouth and sometimes he broke the coconut by kicking it with his head like a football. This dance performed to the beat of the drum was a sight to behold. All the male artists of West Bengal performed a passionate dance like Tandava of Nataraja in Natua dance. In this, the artists had made various traditional Alpanas from clay on the body. Along with Dhol Tasha, Nagara and Shehnai, he gathered applause by showing acrobatics at one place. Among the artists of Assam troupe, women performed group dance wearing red and yellow colored costumes. In this, dance was performed with Kham like drum, Simfu like flute and Sirja like violin instrument.
