Uttarakhand: BJP declared candidates on all five seats, names of Baluni and Trivendra decided

Dehradun, March 13 (HS). Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has finalized the names of candidates for 02 Lok Sabha seats of Uttarakhand on Wednesday. The party has expressed confidence in former Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat from Haridwar Lok Sabha seat and BJP's national media in-charge Anil Baluni from Pauri Garhwal. With this, BJP has approved the names of candidates for all five Lok Sabha seats in the state. Tickets of two sitting MPs have been canceled.

Out of the five Lok Sabha seats in the BJP's first list, all three candidates are sitting MPs, who have been given a chance again in the Lok Sabha elections-2024. The party has once again expressed confidence in Ajay Tamta from Almora, Ajay Bhatt from Nainital and Mala Raj Lakshmi Shah from Tehri.

On Wednesday, former Rajya Sabha MP and party's national media in-charge Anil Baluni has been made the candidate for Pauri Garhwal Lok Sabha seat, while BJP has placed its bet on former Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat from Haridwar Lok Sabha seat. The tickets of the MPs who won on both these seats have been canceled. Former Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank had won the elections from Haridwar Lok Sabha seat for two consecutive times in 2014 and 2019.

Tirath Singh Rawat became MP by winning the election from Pauri Garhwal Lok Sabha seat in 2019. After this, he took oath as Chief Minister on March 10, 2021. After a few months, he had to resign from the post of Chief Minister and after him Pushkar Singh Dhami became the Chief Minister. This time Anil Baluni has been declared the candidate in place of Tirath Singh Rawat.

BJP has been winning five Lok Sabha seats in Uttarakhand for two consecutive times. This time, the target has been set to make a hat-trick by winning all the five seats and also to register victory with a big margin i.e. by 5 lakh votes.
