Pratapgarh: A dispute during a dance in Pratapgarh district of UP turned into a bloody conflict on Saturday night. One party beat three youths of the other party with sticks. In this violence, two people including a resident of Jalandhar died while another was injured.
Anita, daughter of foreigner Gautam of Chakodia village and Manoj Kumar Gautam, resident of Leelapur, had a wedding on Saturday night. At around 11 pm, 22-year-old Pawandeep Singh of Sultanpur, 32-year-old Inderjeet Singh alias Inderpreet, resident of Basti Sheikh, Jalandhar, Punjab and 25-year-old Mohd. During the dance, Vishal got into an argument with some other brides. The market started after the controversy. The family members calmed down the matter. On receiving information, police also reached the spot. In view of the controversy, the administration turned back the procession. But on the way, people from the other side already standing at Chaukriya turn surrounded all three. They were beaten with sticks until they became unconscious. On receiving the information, police also reached the spot and Pawandeep Singh, Inderjeet Singh and Vishal were taken to the hospital, where Pawandeep was declared dead. Later Indrajeet also died. Vishal is undergoing treatment. On the complaint of Indrajit’s wife, the police have registered a case and taken 15 people into custody.
