PM Modi to visit Nigeria, Guyana and Brazil, attend G-20 summit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s foreign tour of three countries is starting from today. PM Modi will first go to Nigeria. After this it will reach Brazil and then depart for Guyana. PM Modi will be on a visit to Nigeria on 16-17 November. After Nigeria, Prime Minister Modi will reach Brazil, where he will participate in the G-20 summit. After this PM Modi will leave for Guyana.

PM Modi’s visit to Nigeria is very special because it is the first time after 17 years that an Indian Prime Minister is visiting this country. Earlier in October 2007, Manmohan Singh had visited Nigeria. Prime Minister Modi will attend the CARICOM-India summit in Guyana. This is the first visit of an Indian Prime Minister after 50 years.

Some special things about PM Modi’s visit

  • PM Modi is on a visit to Nigeria on the invitation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. This will be PM Modi’s first visit to Nigeria. Nigeria is a close partner of India in the West African region. PM Modi said that my visit will help in taking forward our strategic partnership. Our partnership is based on a shared belief in democracy and pluralism.

  • PM Modi will participate in the 19th G-20 summit in Brazil. Last year the G-20 summit was organized in India. This time Brazil has taken forward India’s legacy. PM Modi will hold bilateral talks with many leaders during the G-20 summit.
  • PM Modi is on a visit to Guyana on the invitation of President Mohammad Irfan. This will be the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister in more than 50 years. PM Modi said we will exchange ideas to give strategic direction to our unique relationship, which is based on shared heritage, culture and values.
  • He said, I will also pay my respects to one of the oldest Indian immigrants, who came here 185 years ago. PM Modi said that during this visit, I will also join the leaders of Caribbean partner countries for the second India-CARICOM summit. We stand together in every happiness and sorrow.
