Indian Railways: Those making reels on trains or railway tracks should now be careful. If there is any security threat while making reels at these places, an FIR will be lodged. In this regard, the Railway Board has given instructions to all its zones. It said FIRs will be lodged against rail manufacturers if they pose a threat to safe railway operations or cause inconvenience to passengers in coaches or on railway premises.
People crossed all limits in making the reel
This instruction of the Railway Board has come after several recent cases in which youth, especially, have compromised railway safety by making videos of stunts on railway tracks and in moving trains with their mobile phones.
A senior board official said, ‘People have crossed all limits in making the reel. They are not only risking their lives but also endangering the safety of hundreds of passengers by placing luggage on railway tracks or driving vehicles or performing dangerous stunts in running trains.’ Several videos have been circulated showing people walking close to trains while taking selfies, leading to their deaths. Many people lost their lives on the spot after being hit by the train.
Railway Board officials said the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Political Railway Police (GRP) have been asked to adopt a zero-tolerance policy towards those building railways in violation of rules.
Railways to soon install Kavach 4.0 on major routes
Indian Railways said it is accelerating the deployment of the advanced Kavach 4.0 automatic train protection system on more than 10,000 locomotives and 14,375 route kilometer (RKM) tracks across the country. Indian Railways aims to rapidly implement shielding on all major routes by 2030.
