Ahmedabad News: Team Nirma AUV of Nirma University has once again showcased its talent in autonomous underwater technology by winning the National Championship at the AMU ROVC’24 held from 9-10 November at Aligarh Muslim University, Uttar Pradesh. Apart from defending their title, the team won a cash prize of Rs 25,000, a remarkable achievement in the field of underwater robotics.
AMU ROVC’24 Competition, a prestigious event organized by the Autonomous Underwater Vehicle Club (MTS-AUV) of the Marine Technology Society of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE AMU), aims to bring together a community of young researchers to develop remotely operated underwater vehicles. The competition challenges students across three phases: a comprehensive design report, a proof of concept (POC) video, and a final individual competition, where only the top seven teams advance to the final phase.
In the final round, Team Nirma AUV’s remotely operated vehicle, Agastya 4.1, completed each task with remarkable accuracy, impressing the judges and exceeding expectations.
The team comprised of 17 engineering students from Nirma University Institute of Technology, who exemplified their dedication, technical skills and collaborative spirit. Faculty mentors Dr. Mihir Chauhan and Dr. Akash Mekwan provided critical guidance during the design and competition process, further fueling the team’s success.
