Dharamshala, 13 November (Hindustan Reporter). Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri on Wednesday inaugurated the inspection cottage of Jal Shakti Department built at a cost of Rs 2 crore 80 lakh in Nakki of Jawali Assembly. On this occasion, Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Minister Prof. Chandra Kumar was present as a special guest.
It is noteworthy that the construction work of this inspection hut was pending for the last 20 years. Agriculture Minister Prof. Chandra Kumar had informed the Deputy Chief Minister about this project during his visit to Jwali in August last year. After this, as per the instructions of the Deputy Chief Minister, the construction work of this inspection hut was completed on a war footing in one year.
Addressing the public meeting on this occasion, the Deputy Chief Minister said that to provide clean drinking water in Jwali city, an urban water supply scheme has been made at a cost of about Rs 16 crore, under which 4 tube wells, 6 water storage tanks, rising mains and distribution lines to homes. Taps have been installed along with the laying. He said that work will be started soon under Amrit-2 scheme by spending Rs 15.50 crore for 24-hour drinking water supply in Jwali city, the tender for which has been made.
Mukesh Agnihotri said that crores of rupees are being spent for irrigation in the area so that farmers can earn good income due to good production in their fields. He informed that under the irrigation scheme in Jwali assembly, 9 tube wells will be installed at a cost of Rs 5.50 crore, out of which the construction work of 5 tube wells has been completed.
He said that during the rainy season, the water of Dehar Khad of Kotla area of Jawali assembly causes damage to people’s houses and fields. Therefore, for a permanent solution to this problem, a provision of Rs 5.74 crore has been made for the channelization work of the ravine, the construction work of which will be started soon. Apart from this, a provision of Rs 4.90 crore has been made for flood protection wall, crate and ditches in Kotla city, the tender for which has been allotted and the work will be started in the coming month. Apart from this, Rs 7 crore each will be spent on flood protection works in Buhal and Dehar Khad areas.
He said that efforts have also been intensified for approval of Sukhahar Irrigation Scheme costing Rs 247 crore. With its construction, 2,186 hectares of land of about eight thousand farmers of 22 panchayats of Nagrota Suriyan, Shahpur, Pragod, Harchakkian and Dehra area of Kangra district will get the benefit of irrigation. Apart from this, the work of Finna Singh Irrigation Project under construction in Kangra district will now progress at a fast pace. An amount of Rs 300 crore has been spent so far by the state government for its construction. Approval of Rs 287 crore has also been received from the Central Government for this project to be built at a cost of approximately Rs 646 crore.
