Patel became bowling coach
Delhi has appointed former India fast bowler Munaf Patel as its bowling coach for the upcoming season. The franchise announced this on Tuesday. Munaf Patel was part of the Indian team that won the World Cup in 2011. Apart from this, he has also been with Rajasthan Royals, which won the first season of IPL. He has played 70 ODI matches for India in which he has taken 86 wickets. Patel has taken 35 wickets in 13 test matches for India.
Delhi has changed its coaching staff this time. Till now Ricky Ponting of Australia was the coach of the team but this time the team has said goodbye to him. The team has appointed former Indian batsman Hemang Badani as its new head coach. Apart from this, another former Indian batsman Venugopal Rao has been appointed Director of Cricket. Now the franchise has strengthened its coaching staff by including Munaf in the team. Munaf has played IPL for Rajasthan from 2008 to 2010, Mumbai Indians from 2011 to 2013 and Gujarat Lions in 2017.
Pant was released
This time Delhi has taken a tough decision and not retained its star player Rishabh Pant. Pant was with Delhi since 2017 and was also captaining the team for the last few seasons.
