Hyderabad, 13 November (HS). A goods train carrying iron derailed at Raghavpur in Peddapalli district, located in the northern region of Telangana state. In this accident, 11 coaches of the goods train derailed. The goods train was going from Bellary in Karnataka to Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh. The incident occurred at a short distance from Kannala Railway Gate near Raghavapur after crossing Karimnagar and Peddapalli stations. Due to the loud noise after the derailment, people from nearby villages reached the accident site. On getting information about the matter, the railway employee informed the higher authorities. Departmental officials stopped many trains going on this route at the respective stations. Officials believe that this goods train with 44 bogies derailed due to heavy load. When the train bogies fell on top of each other, the links between them broke and the place was damaged.
Railway sources said it was expected to take hours to restore the tracks and remove the overturned coaches. On receiving information about the wagon derailment, railway officials immediately reached the spot and started taking rescue measures.
Due to the accident, two upline and downline tracks on this route were damaged. Many trains were stopped on the Khajipet-Ballarsha route. Since it is an important route for North-South India, the authorities have ordered to stop the trains running on Tuesday midnight at the respective stations.
Shortly after the accident, Sampark Kranti and Bhagyanagar Express were stopped at Peddapalli station. Due to this, passengers are facing a lot of problems.
Railway officials said that relief work to repair the track is expected to begin by Wednesday morning and be completed by noon. On getting information about the accident, Union Minister of State Bandi Sanjay spoke to the Railway General Manager on phone. Orders have been issued to take immediate relief measures and passengers on this route have been advised to avoid any inconvenience. The Union Minister of State said in a statement that officials have promised to restore traffic soon on Wednesday.
