New Delhi: Congress is facing a big setback in the income tax matter. Delhi High Court reprimanded Congress and asked why they were sleeping for 3 years? Not only this, the High Court has reserved its decision.
Earlier, the Income Tax-Appellate-Tribunal had issued a notice to the Congress for recovery of more than Rs.
The bench of Justice Yashwant Verma and Justice Purushendra Kumar Kaurav said that the decision of the case is still pending. There does not seem to be any flaw in the order of the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal. The court also said that this action against Congress was started from 2021. Seeing this, the court took a strict stance and asked whether he was still sleeping. The bench also said that the entire matter has been handled very poorly.
Observers say that this sharp criticism of the court would have created a stir in the Congress. This is more likely if the High Court rules against the Congress. In such a situation, Congress does not see any other option other than going to the Supreme Court. In such a situation, if the Supreme Court or the High Court accepts the decision against the Congress, then a big problem may arise for the Congress. At best, Congress could ask for more time to pay that amount. Whatever happens, it is another blow to the Congress which will drag on the election.
Earlier, the Income Tax Department had frozen the bank accounts of Congress. Barely enough funds were allowed to cover staff salaries and unavoidable operating costs. Thus, it is certain that Congress is in real financial and legal trouble just at the time of general elections.
