Maharashtra Assembly Elections: Amidst the allegations against BJP about breaking the party, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has mentioned veteran leader Sharad Pawar. During a recent interview, he said that Pawar had also taken such a decision in his time. It was being said that the Lok Sabha result in Maharashtra was the result of political turmoil. In 2022, Shiv Sena got divided into two parts and in 2023, Nationalist Congress Party also got divided into two parts.
Gadkari said, 'All is fair in love and war. Sharad Pawar led NCP broke all the parties while he was the Chief Minister…he broke Shiv Sena and ousted Chhagan Bhujbal and others, but that's how it goes in politics. Now whether this is right or wrong is a different matter. There is a saying that everything is fair in love and war. 'Pawar is a highly respected leader of Maharashtra but there was a time when his decisions influenced all forces.' In the Lok Sabha elections held in June, 30 out of 48 seats in the state went to Mahavikas Aghadi. Mahayuti won on 17. Of these, Shiv Sena UBTA won 9, NCP SP 8 and Congress 13 seats.
BJP is a party of workers
Addressing an election rally at Arvi in Wardha district, Gadkari said the BJP is neither Prime Minister Narendra Modi's party nor mine, but it is a party of workers who have dedicated their lives to it. Gadkari, the BJP's Lok Sabha member from Nagpur, recalled his time as a party worker when he was traveling on a scooter with two others in neighboring Wardha district in the state's Vidarbha region.
Congress surrounded
Gadkari said, 'In the 75-year history of India, Congress has never given priority to the development of rural areas of the country. There were neither roads nor drinking water in the village. Congress never thought seriously about the development of rural India. If rural India was given priority, farmers would not have committed suicide and there would have been no poverty in villages.
