Workers fall from 16th floor due to scaffolding collapse in Borivali, 3 dead

Mumbai: Three workers fell from the 16th floor after an iron scaffolding collapsed in a newly constructed building in Borivali. When a worker was seriously injured. He was admitted to the ICU of the hospital for treatment. The police have taken cognizance of the matter and started investigating whether there was any negligence in this incident.

A 24 storey building is under construction at Kalpana Chawla Chowk, Soni Wadi, Borivali (West). Iron scaffolding has been built for work in the building. Today at 1 o'clock in the afternoon, workers were standing and working on this platform. Then suddenly the stage collapsed. Workers Manoranjan Samatdar (42), Piyush Haldar (42), Shankar Baidya (26), Sushil Gupta (36) fell from the 16th floor.

As soon as information about the incident was received, fire brigade, police and municipal corporation employees reached the spot for rescue operations. The workers trapped under the iron scaffolding were taken out and taken to the hospital.

But Manoranjan, Shankar, Piyush died. When Sushil's condition became critical, he was admitted to the ICU ward.

Senior police inspector Ninad Sawant of Borivali police station said that a case of accidental death has been registered in connection with the death of three laborers in this incident.
