Mumbai: BJP leader Nitin Gadkari, who has the credit for making India's express highway network of international standard, is always known for his outspoken nature. He does not shy away from criticizing the party on any issue. As the campaign for the assembly elections in Maharashtra has reached noon, senior BJP leader Nitin Gadkari has expressed concern over the infiltration of tainted leaders in the party. Gadkari said that as the party is expanding, some problems are also arising. The party will have to take steps to maintain its purity. Some bugs have emerged in the party. Insecticide should be sprayed.

When Lok Sabha or Assembly elections are held in the country, a large number of leaders join political parties. However, while the BJP has been declaring that it will have zero tolerance for corruption, in recent times leaders facing corruption charges have joined the BJP. The opposition is also not shying away from attacking BJP on this issue. The opposition has accused BJP of being a washing machine of corruption and claimed that the leaders who have been accused of corruption come to BJP with a clean image.

When 10 days are left for voting in the assembly elections in Maharashtra, senior BJP leader Nitin Gadkari has also raised this issue. He said that as the party is expanding, some leaders with bad image have also joined BJP. The party will have to take steps to maintain its purity.

Citing the example of 'diseased crops', Nitin Gadkari said that the party should emphasize the need for spraying pesticides. As crops increase, diseases also increase. BJP's crop has become very big, in which along with good grains there are also some diseases. Therefore the party will have to spray pesticides on such sick crops.

He said that along with increasing membership, BJP will also have to keep an eye on the process of including political leaders in the party. Besides, new members will also have to be made aware of the ideology and culture of the party. BJP is a party of workers. New people are coming for different reasons. It is our responsibility to train them, teach them our ideology and make them our workers. We should keep trying. Thousands of workers stand up but sometimes one worker says something due to which the efforts of thousands of workers fail.

Nitin Gadkari's statement comes in the context of Maharashtra Assembly elections, where BJP is in the fray along with Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction) and Ajit Pawar's NCP under the Mahayuti alliance. Gadkari also underlined the principles of secularism enshrined in the Indian Constitution and said that the government and system should be secular. A person can never be secular, but the state, government and system must be secular.
