Weather Update: Chance of rain in these states including Delhi-NCR, yellow alert, know the weather condition

Weather Update: There is going to be a sudden change in the weather before the festival of Holi. The effect of which will be seen in other states including the country's capital Delhi. According to India Meteorological Department (IMD), the weather may change due to western disturbance.

Due to this, there is a possibility of light rain and drizzle in entire North India including Delhi on Wednesday i.e. 13th March. However, there will be no drop in temperature due to rain. The weather may clear again after the rain.

From Thursday to Sunday (March 14-17), the day maximum temperature may drop to 30-31 degrees Celsius in most parts of New Delhi, Jafarpur, Najafgarh and Pusa. The minimum night temperature is expected to drop to 12-13 degrees Celsius between Friday and Sunday (15-17 March). After this decrease the temperature is expected to increase again.

However, Delhi is not alone in being affected by rain this week. The Meteorological Department has predicted light rain in parts of Punjab, North Haryana, Chandigarh, North-West Uttar Pradesh and Western Rajasthan on Wednesday also due to the arrival of twin-western disturbances.

The weather department has put Punjab and Haryana, joint subdivisions of Chandigarh and Delhi on yellow alert on Wednesday, warning of thunderstorm and lightning in the region. While all the surrounding states have received more rainfall this month, Delhi is still receiving less rainfall.

Between March 1 and 11, the Union Territory received only 4.8 mm rainfall, which is 44% less than the normal of 8.5 mm. Meanwhile, Haryana received 15 mm of rain (almost double normal), Chandigarh 26 mm (three times normal) and Punjab 15 mm (65% normal).

Meanwhile, Delhi's air quality has deteriorated to moderate levels. Air quality is likely to remain in the moderate category from Wednesday to Thursday. The air quality is likely to remain in the moderate category for the next six days. IITM's Decision Support System said that the main surface wind over Delhi on 12.03.2024 is likely to be from north-westerly direction with a speed of 04-08 kmph and the sky will be mainly clear.
