In the Kedarnath Legislative Assembly by-election, a one-day postal ballot training was provided to the micro observers in the development block Ukhimath auditorium in the presence of general observer Vinod Sheshan to enable the disabled and voters above 85 years of age to vote through postal ballot. During this, the General Observer informed all the micro observers present about their moral responsibilities as well as information about voting through postal ballot.
While giving information to the micro observers present, General Observer Vinod Sheshan said that the disabled and voters above 85 years of age are provided the facility of voting at their homes by the Election Commission. For this, micro observers will conduct door-to-door voting in the form of polling party. Each team will have five members and the voting process will be videographed. Police will also play an important role in this entire process from security point of view.
He said that polling parties will visit the homes of voters with disabilities and above 85 years of age to cast their votes on November 11 and 12. He said that before voting, the polling party should compulsorily contact the BLO of the concerned area for convenience.
He said that if for some reason the voter could not vote the first time, then he should go to his house on an additional day and get him to vote through postal ballot. But if the voter does not vote twice, he will not be able to cast his vote even in the polling booth. He also suggested creating a WhatsApp group for any doubts or other information.
Nodal Officer Postal Ballot Rahul Choubey said that there are a total of 193 voters belonging to the disabled and above 85 years of age group in the Kedarnath Assembly by-election, out of which 20 are disabled voters and 173 are above 85 years of age. He told Micro Observer that a kit will be provided to him for postal ballot. He said that in order to ensure that the secrecy of the election is not violated, it is necessary to do videography from a proper distance and to ensure the security of the postal ballot.
He said that all micro observers should take the Kedarnath Assembly by-election with sensitivity and understand the complete information about all the voting related processes. Told that they will soon be provided with other necessary documents including route plan, vehicle etc. for postal ballot.
On this occasion, Nodal Officer, Micro Observer Deepa Tilara, Narendra Kumar along with Micro Observers and police personnel were present.
