Jabalpur, 6 November (HS). The candidates for the post of ANM had filed a petition in the High Court, on which a total of 292 petitions were heard in the double bench of Justice Suresh Kumar Kait and Justice Vivek Jain. In this matter, the High Court has adopted a strict attitude against the Health Department and has ordered that appointment letters should be given to the remaining 1099 posts within a week.
These petitions were heard on Tuesday, but the High Court order came out on Wednesday. The advocate on behalf of the government had also sought some more time for this process, but the court has made it clear that no more time will be given for this. The High Court has ordered that this order of the court should be widely published in the newspapers so that the candidates know where to contact for appointment. If 1099 ANMs are not recruited within 7 days, action will be taken under contempt of court. After the order, now the department will have to give appointment letters to the candidates within a week.
ANM recruitment was done for a total of 1233 posts by the Health Department. The matter regarding educational qualification in this recruitment process was pending in the court. The results for ANM appointment were declared for a total of 1233 posts after the order given by Indore High Court on 5 April 2024. The court had issued an order to appoint the eligible candidates considering them eligible under the educational qualification as per the old rule. Even after the order of Indore High Court, the Health Department did not speed up the appointments. After which the High Court ordered the Commissioner of the Health Services Directorate to appear in the court and explain why a contempt case should not be filed against the Health Department. After this, the Commissioner of the Health Services Directorate had assured the court that he would complete the recruitment process soon by following the court's order. But even after that till date only 134 candidates out of total 1233 have received appointment letters.
Candidates who are eligible as per the declared results have to present their documents before the CMHO of the district from 9:30 am on 8th November 2024 so that they can be given appointment letters. Here the court has also directed that the candidates whose documents are not found correct will not be given appointment but the defendants will have to explain the reason for not giving appointment, which will be sent to the Health Department Directorate in the form of an affidavit. Along with this, the court has ordered the Commissioner of Health Services Directorate to remain present in the court in the next hearing of this case. The next hearing of the case has been fixed for November 21, 2024.
