Prayagraj, March 12 (HS). Allahabad High Court has said that relationships against the law cannot get the support of the court. Under the Hindu Marriage Act, if the husband and wife are alive and divorce has not been taken, then they cannot marry again.
The court said that if already married relationships are supported by the court, there will be anarchy in the society and the social fabric of the country will be destroyed. Justice Renu Aggarwal has rejected the petition filed by Pooja Kumari of Kasganj and others demanding protection of live-in relationship, imposing a compensation of Rs 2,000.
The petitioners said that they had sought protection from SP Kasganj but when no hearing took place, they appealed to the High Court for protection. The advocate of Anita Kumari, wife of the opposite second petitioner, presented the Aadhaar card and said that she is his married wife. It was also told that the first petitioner is the wife of Pushpendra.
No petitioner has been divorced from his or her spouse. The first petitioner is the mother of two children and is living in a relationship with petitioner number two. The court considered it against the law and rejected the petition, refusing to provide security.
