Purnia Divisional Commissioner reviewed the preparations for Chhath Puja, emphasis on security arrangements

Katihar, 04 November (HS). An important meeting was organized through video conferencing on Monday under the chairmanship of Purnia Divisional Commissioner Sanjay Dubey. In this meeting, the updated status of CCTV cameras in police stations was reviewed in view of law and order maintenance and Chhath Puja in all the districts of Purnia division. The Commissioner directed the Superintendents of Police of all the districts to ensure that the CCTV camera in the police station where it is not working, gets it working as soon as possible.

Katihar Superintendent of Police Vaibhav Sharma said that CCTV cameras are working in almost all the police stations of the district. Mayor Usha Aggarwal also gave information about CCTV cameras installed in the urban area. The Commissioner gave necessary guidelines regarding Chhath festival, which included arrangement of lighting at Chhath Ghat, cleanliness, availability of divers, deputation of police force as per requirement etc.

The Commissioner gave instructions to provide all possible assistance from the district administration. He also gave instructions for inspection of Chhath Ghat, arrangement of barricading on the banks of Ganga, arrangement of watch tower, installation of red colored plaques at dangerous places etc. He also asked to make arrangements for changing rooms for the devotees taking bath in Ganga, to keep the fire brigade in alert mode to control the fire incident and to make medical arrangements at all the ghats of Chhath.

The Commissioner also gave instructions to identify the unruly elements and keep a close watch on them. Mayor, District Magistrate, Superintendent of Police, Municipal Commissioner and other concerned officials were present in this meeting.
