East Champaran, November 04 (HS). The sugarcane crushing season 2024-25 of HPCL Biofuels Limited, Unit Sugauli, the only sugarcane mill in the district, was inaugurated by performing Donga Puja on Monday.
The sugarcane crushing session was inaugurated by District Magistrate Saurabh Jorwal amid the chanting of Vedic mantras. Before this, Deputy General Manager (Sugarcane) of the unit Shailendra Kumar Mishra worshiped all the machinery, weighbridges, farmers, cartmen and bulls who had brought the sugarcane.
On the occasion, Block Development Officer of Sugauli Block Nutan Kiran, Circle Officer Kundan Kumar and many officials of local and district administration, Chief Finance Officer of HPCL Biofuels Limited Prakash Kumar, General Manager Vijay Kumar Dixit, Deputy General Manager (Engineering) Yogendra Bahadur Singh, Deputy General Manager ( Production) All officers and employees of Sugauli unit including Ramesh Shukla, sugarcane manager Sanjeev Kumar and Harishchand Srivastava were present.
Along with this, hundreds of sugarcane producing farmers including Anil Dubey, Nagendra Singh, Vijay Kumar Nayak, Ram Gopal Khandelwal, Dharmendra Tiwari, Narendra Yadav, Mo Ashab were present. General Manager of Sugauli unit, Vijay Kumar Dixit said that a target has been set to crush 50 lakh quintals of sugarcane during the crushing season 2024-25, which will be completed in about 150 days.
There is an atmosphere of joy among the farmers since the beginning of the crushing season in the month of November, because by cutting their pegged sugarcane and supplying it to the mill, the fields will be emptied on time, which will enable the farmers to harvest the upcoming Rabi crops like potato, pulses, oilseeds and wheat. The General Manager said that the tradition of correct weighing and timely payment will continue this year like previous years and he also appealed to the farmers to cultivate sugarcane in maximum area. Because in the area of Sugauli unit, sometimes due to floods and sometimes drought, other crops of the farmers get ruined. Sugarcane crop tolerates adverse weather conditions, hence farmers should cultivate sugarcane while avoiding the risk of cultivating other crops.
