Maharashtra elections: Today is the last day to withdraw nominations before Maharashtra Assembly elections. Meanwhile, both the alliances are trying to convince their rebel candidates. Mahayuti and Mahavikas Aghadi (MVA) are laying special emphasis on those candidates who can change the equation of victory and defeat.
Independent candidate withdraws name from Andheri East Assembly seat
Meanwhile, three big faces in Maharashtra have withdrawn their names from this election. The first name in this is that of Ekta Sharma, wife of encounter specialist Pradeep Sharma. Filed acceptance letter as an independent candidate from Andheri East Assembly seat. She stood against Shiv Sena candidate Murji Patel. But now Acceptance has announced the withdrawal of its nomination.
The candidate also withdrew his name from Borivali assembly seat.
The second name in this list is that of Gopal Shetty. He had filed the form as an independent candidate from Borivali assembly seat. But now after talking to BJP leader Vinod Tawde, Gopal Shetty has announced to withdraw his nomination.
A candidate demanding reservation for Marathas also dropped out of the race.
The third and biggest name in the list of those who have withdrawn their names is that of Manoj Jarange Patil. Manoj had demonstrated for a long time demanding reservation for the Maratha community.
Manoj Jarange said, 'I will not support any candidate or party in the Maharashtra Assembly elections. I request my supporters to withdraw their names.
Talking to journalists, Manoj Jarange said, 'After much deliberation, I have decided not to field any candidate in the state. Maratha society itself will decide whom to defeat and whom to elect. I have no association with or support for any candidate or political party.
