Nose Health Issues: Nose is a very important part of our body, which helps us to breathe, smell and speak. But do you know that the nose also gives many types of health related information. A new study suggests that your loss of smell may be a sign of at least 139 or more serious medical conditions.
Actually, this has been revealed in a study published in Frontiers in Molecular Neuroscience. These diseases include Alzheimer's, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, heart disease, COVID-19, and others.
Nose tells about health condition
According to studies, if we are failing to recognize the smell or aroma of something then it can be a symptom of many diseases. For example, people who have Parkinson's disease lose their sense of smell. At the same time, in case of Alzheimer's, there may be difficulty in concentrating, in which the nose can also be affected.
What does the study say?
Another study found a link between odor and inflammation. According to the study, when researchers looked at all 139 medical conditions associated with loss of smell, all of them involved some type of inflammation. Michael Lyons, author of the study and professor emeritus at the Charlie Dunlap School of Biological Sciences at the University of California, Irvine, said that enhancing the sense of smell could improve memory in adults by up to 226 percent.
