Kolkata, 04 November (HS). R.G. A charge sheet will be filed in the Sealdah court on Monday against the main accused Civic Volunteer in the rape and murder of a female doctor in the Kar Hospital incident. This will start the judicial process in the case. The first chargesheet in this case was filed by the CBI last month in which the name of the civic volunteer was registered as the main accused. Along with this, R.G. has been booked on charges of tampering with evidence. The names of former tax principal Sandeep Ghosh and the then officer of Tala police station Abhijit Mandal have also been included.
On August 9 this year, R.G. The body of the female doctor was recovered from the seminar hall on the fourth floor of the emergency department of Kar Hospital. The same night, Kolkata Police arrested the accused civic volunteer. After this, the responsibility of investigating the case was handed over to CBI. 58 days later, on October 7, the CBI filed a charge sheet in which the accused was convicted on the basis of strong evidence related to the crime. A total of 11 evidences have been obtained in the investigation against the accused which include statements of witnesses, video footage, forensic and scientific reports.
Key evidence and direction of investigation
According to the CBI, in the CCTV footage of the incident site, the accused civic volunteer was seen walking into the corridor of the hospital wearing a T-shirt, jeans, helmet and headphones. The time recorded in the footage is 4:03 am on August 9, when the incident took place. It has also been mentioned in the charge sheet that the mobile location of the accused was also near the hospital that night. Major evidences include the DNA of the accused found on the body of the deceased female doctor, blood stains on her clothes, hair recovered from the crime scene matching the hair of the accused and Bluetooth earphones being attached to her.
The CBI also said that there were injury marks on the body of the accused which were caused due to the resistance of the female doctor on the night of the incident. The forensic report at the time of the incident also revealed that the injuries present on the body of the accused were recent. Apart from this, it has also become clear from the forensic report that the clothes of the deceased were removed forcefully, which makes the involvement of the accused more clear.
Polygraph test and statement of the accused
Kolkata Police had claimed that the arrested accused had confessed to the crime. However, the accused's lawyer told the court that his client was innocent and had been framed. CBI also said that the accused has tried to mislead the investigators and there are contradictions in his statements. Following the court's order, polygraph test of the accused was also conducted. In this test, 10 questions were asked to the accused, in which he denied any involvement in the crime every time and said that he had gone to the hospital to see his friend's brother.

The names of Sandeep Ghosh and Abhijit Mandal have been included in the charge sheet to investigate whether there is any major conspiracy or role of other people in this crime. Additional chargesheet will also be filed in this direction after further investigation.
