Delhi/Ranchi, March 12 (Hindu). Dr. Asha Lakra, newly nominated member of the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes, assumed charge at the office in New Delhi on Tuesday. On this occasion, Commission Secretary Alka Tiwari handed him the (letter) warrant and welcomed him with a bouquet of flowers.
After assuming charge, Dr. Asha Lakra instructed the Secretary to list the pending cases in the Commission under A, B and C categories within three days, so that all the cases can be executed on priority. In this sequence, he also asked the Secretary to list the pending cases related to Jharkhand in A, B and C categories, so that the necessary cases can be executed as soon as possible. Said, a meeting will be held again on March 14 regarding the execution of pending cases. During this, Dr. Asha Lakra took information from the Secretary about the activities of the Commission and the cases executed in the past.
She said that with the major responsibility of this post, I will always be ready for the welfare of the helpless and exploited by following the powers mentioned in the Constitution of the country and will strive to provide justice to the people concerned.
