The doors of Kedarnath Dham have been closed for winter. Today, on Sunday i.e. 3rd November, on the occasion of Bhai Bij festival, the doors of Kedarnath Dham were closed for 6 months at 8.30 am. During this time a huge crowd of devotees gathered. After the closure of the doors, Baba Kedarnath's Doli Yatra was sent with the army band to his winter seat Omkareshwar Temple, Ukhimath.

The doors of the world famous eleventh Jyotirlinga were closed with Vedic rituals and religious traditions amid the devotional tunes of Shri Kedarnath Dham ૐ Namah Shivay, Jai Baba Kedar and Jai Ghosh and the Indian Army Band. During this, a large number of devotees present were seen dancing with devotion to the tune of the army band.

More than 15 thousand devotees witnessed the closing of the doors of Baba Kedarnath Dham. During this time the temple was lavishly decorated with flowers. First of all, Acharya, Vedapathis and priests of BKTC performed Samadhi Puja of Swayambhu Shivling of Lord Kedarnath. The Swayambhu Shivalinga was given the form of Samadhi with ashes, local flowers, wood apple leaves etc. After this, at 8.30 in the morning the Panchmukhi Utsav Doli of Baba Kedar was taken out of the temple. After this the doors of Kedarnath temple were closed.

Every year with the onset of winter season the doors of Kedarnath Dham are closed. After this, the procession of Baba Kedarnath leaves for the winter seat of Omkareshwar Temple, Ukhimath. For the next 6 months, Baba Kedar is worshiped at the winter seat of Omkareshwar Temple, Ukhimath.
