Uttarkashi, 02 November (HS). The doors of the world famous Gangotri Dham were closed for winter as per the rituals on Saturday at 12:14 pm on the occasion of Annakoot festival. After the closure of the doors, Mother Ganga will now give darshan to the devotees for six months in the Ganga temple located in Mukhba in her maternal home Mukhimath. The Utsav Doli of Mother Ganga has left for Mukhimath on Saturday and will reach the winter halt Mukhba.

On the occasion of closing of the doors of Gangotri Dham, a large number of devotees were present in the Dham. Gangatri Dham echoed with the chants of Har Har Gange… Jai Maa Gange. Shri Panch Gangotri Temple Committee Secretary Suresh Semwal said that the process of closing the doors of Gangotri Dham of Mother Bhagwati Ganga was started with the Diwali festival on Friday. He said that the Utsavdoli of Mother Ganga has left for Mukhimath on Saturday. The carriage of Mother Ganga will rest for the night at Markande temple, three kilometers before Mukhimath. On Bhaiya Dooj, Sunday, November 3, the doli of Maa Ganga will reach Mukhimath village, then the festive idol of Maa Ganga will be brought to the winter halt Mukhba along with the doli yatra. In such a situation, devotees will now be able to have darshan of Mother Ganga at her maternal home Mukhimath till winter season. Mother Ganga will be worshiped here for six months. It is noteworthy that this time 8 lakh 11 thousand 542 pilgrims who came on Char Dham Yatra attained virtue by visiting Gangotri Dham.
