Tamil Nadu Firecracker Manufacturers Association says that this year there has been a firecracker business worth Rs 6 thousand crore in Sivakasi, the business has decreased due to the Supreme Court ban.

Due to the decision of the Supreme Court, linked firecrackers have been banned in Sivakasi also, due to this ban the production of firecrackers has reduced by 30 percent.

Manufactured in over 300 factories

• It is said that more than 300 factories in and around Sivakasi manufacture interlocking crackers.
• A firecracker manufacturer said that sound crackers account for 40 percent of the total production in Sivakasi. About 20 percent of them were interlocking fireworks.
• The effect of this was that firecracker manufacturers had to close their factories for a long time. The workers went to another factory. Besides, due to heavy rains the production of firecrackers has also been affected.
• It is said that about 70 percent of the country's firecrackers are made in Sivakasi. The number of firecracker factories is more than 1100. More than four lakh laborers work in it. BJP state president Annamalai also shared a video regarding the firecracker business.
