Shimla, 1 November (Hindustan Reporter). The Sanjauli Masjid controversy in the city has once again deepened. The orders of the MC Court have now been challenged in the District Court. The affidavit given by Mosque Committee head Mohammad Latif to the Municipal Corporation Commissioner has been challenged in the District Court. The petitioner has filed an appeal in the District Court against the decision of the Municipal Corporation Commissioner.
The complainant alleges that the affidavit filed by Mosque Committee Chairman Mohammad Latif is illegal. The affidavit filed on behalf of Latif has been filed without the consent of the committee. This appeal has been filed in the name of Nazakat Hashmi vs. MC Shimla.
It is noteworthy that on the basis of affidavits, the Municipal Corporation Commissioner has ordered the demolition of three floors of the mosque. Asif told that before independence there was a permanent mosque. The Waqf Board was formed in the year 1954 and after the formation of the board, a survey of all the Waqf properties across the country was conducted. Sanjauli Masjid is with the Waqf Board since then. On August 15, 1970, a notification was issued by the Central Government to all the states, in which the state governments were ordered to register the mutation of properties in the name of the Waqf Board. Till today the Waqf Board is requesting the government for mutation of the properties.
