Mumbai: Sessions Court has sentenced the husband to seven years imprisonment in the case of wife's death. In December 2019, the husband beat up his wife for refusing to eat biryani. Initially, the charge was murder, later the court changed the charge to manslaughter.
According to the case registered with Bhoiwada police on December 20, 2019, accused Ajay Adsul and his wife Savita came home after attending a society function at Mahalaxmi Bhawan in Parel. After coming home, Ajay asked his wife Savita to have dinner with him but Savita refused and beat Ajay and hit his head on the wall, due to which Dhedite became unconscious. Ajay took him to the hospital and said that he had fallen in the bathroom and the hospital informed the police as he had suffered multiple injuries. Savita was also declared dead along with Avathan and Ajay's mother told the police that Ajay had beaten her. Therefore the police arrested Ajay.
The government examined 15 witnesses but the court acquitted it of murder charges, saying Ajay did not use any weapon and did not intend to kill his wife. The ambush attack was the result of a fight. The court found him guilty under the section of culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
