On the basis of spin all-rounder Keshav Maharaj's five wickets for 59 runs, South Africa defeated Bangladesh by an innings and 273 runs on the third day itself and won the two-Test series 2-0. South Africa declared the first innings at 575 runs for six wickets.
The team came on tour after Bangladesh scored 159 runs in the first innings. Bangladesh's second innings ended on the score of 143 runs. In Bangladesh's first innings, Mominul Haq scored the highest score of 82 runs in 112 balls. Apart from scoring 30 runs, Taijul saved the team from a bad situation by making a partnership of 103 runs with Mominul. Fast bowler Rabada took five wickets for 37 runs. South Africa has achieved the biggest win in terms of difference of innings and runs in its Test history. Earlier in 2017, it had defeated Bangladesh by an innings and 254 runs in Bloemfontein.
