Telangana bans mayonnaise: The Telangana government on Wednesday banned egg-based mayonnaise for a year due to food safety concerns. The state government has taken this decision after one woman died and 15 others fell ill after eating momos in Hyderabad.
According to food safety officials, there have been several cases in the state in which mayonnaise made from raw eggs has caused problems. It is widely used in dishes like sandwiches, momos and shawarma.
Food poisoning due to consumption of mayonnaise
“After a few months of observation and complaints received, it was found that consumption of mayonnaise made from boiled eggs is causing food poisoning,” the Telangana Food Safety Commissioner said in a statement. Due to which it has been banned since Wednesday.
The commissioner warned the food safety and authority that the production, storage and sale of mayonnaise made using raw eggs will be banned for one year from October 30, 2024.

The government said in the order that, whenever there is a valid reason, the public will be made aware of the potential health hazards associated with food products.
Woman dies after eating momos
A 31-year-old woman died and 15 others fell ill after eating momos in Hyderabad on Tuesday. Initial investigation revealed that these vendors had ordered momos from the same supplier. A few days before this, a case of food poisoning had come to light at a shawarma outlet. Due to which health officials raided shawarma outlets across the city.
