Raipur, 30 October (Hindustan Reporter). Clerk Pradeep Upadhyay, posted in the Revenue Department of the Collectorate, committed suicide by hanging himself on Monday, October 28. Before committing suicide, the deceased wrote a suicide note, in which he accused three officers of the department, the then ADM Gajendra Thakur, Virendra Bahadur Singh and ADM Devendra Patel, of torture. Politics has also become heated in this matter. Former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and PCC Chief Deepak Baij held a press conference on Wednesday and strongly targeted the government.
Responding to this matter, former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said that different societies are being harassed in the state. He said that first Satnami, tribals then Sahu and now Brahmin community is being harassed. Referring to the suicide note of Pradeep Upadhyay, Bhupesh Baghel said that custodial deaths are continuously happening in many districts. Describing this government as useless, he said that it has no right to continue in office.
State Congress President Deepak Baij has demanded the removal of Raipur Collector. During the press conference, he said that Pradeep Upadhyay was being continuously harassed and he had also informed the Collector in this regard. But the Collector still did not take any action. Deepak Baij said that the collector who cannot give justice to his employees, how will he give justice to the common people.
There is anger in the Brahmin community regarding suicide. Today on Wednesday, Sarva Brahmin Samaj reached Raj Bhavan and submitted a memorandum to the Governor regarding this matter. In the memorandum, citing the suicide note found from the deceased, senior officials have been accused of torture.
