Accused of abducting a teenage girl arrested, Commission is strict

Dehradun, 30 October (HS). Uttarakhand State Women's Commission Chairperson Kusum Kandwal has taken cognizance of the case of abduction of a class 10 minor girl by a youth from a particular community working in a salon in Kirtinagar of Tehri Garhwal district.

In the matter, the Chairperson of the State Women's Commission, while speaking to Senior Superintendent of Police Ayush Aggarwal on phone, has taken a strong stance and directed for investigation of the incident and strictest action against all the accused involved in the case and counseling of the victim girl. Instructions have also been given for. He said that the responsibility of counseling and care of the said teenager should be taken over by the CWC team.

He said that there is no place for incidents like love jihad, religious conversion in Devbhoomi and action will be taken against all those involved in doing so and those involved in it will be investigated. The Chairperson of the Commission said that those who mislead the sisters and daughters of our Devbhoomi by changing their names on social media in the name of friendship will not be spared. The State Women's Commission will not tolerate any wrongdoing towards the women of the state.

Giving information in the case, Senior Superintendent of Police Ayush Aggarwal said that the accused has been arrested in the case. Currently the minor has been kept in the one stop centre, after which the victim will be sent to the observation home. The incident is being investigated based on the statements of the minor victim. The victim is being medically examined. Appropriate legal action will be taken on the basis of information and evidence.
