Rajkot, 30 October (Hindustan Reporter). Rajkot District Cooperative Bank will give loans to farmers without interest. This announcement has been made for the farmers of Rajkot and Morbi districts. About Rs 1 thousand crore will be given to farmers as loan. This amount will be given for one year. Due to this the bank will suffer a loss of Rs 100 crore in a year. This decision of the bank will benefit about 2 lakh farmers of both the districts.
Rajkot District Cooperative Bank President and MLA Jayesh Radadiya announced the relief package for farmers in a press conference on Wednesday. Heavy and unseasonal rains in Saurashtra have caused widespread damage to crops like groundnut, cotton, soybean, pigeon pea, chilli etc. Rajkot District Cooperative Bank will provide loans to farmers without interest. This bank is a farmers' bank. Farmers have suffered massive losses due to rain in Saurashtra this year. The bank has always been with the farmers. Considering the losses suffered by the farmers, the board of the bank decided to help the farmers. A total of Rs 1 thousand crore will be given to farmers at zero percent interest for one year. A farmer will be given a loan of Rs 10,000 for one hectare and Rs 50,000 for a maximum of 5 hectares. Its benefits will be given to the member farmers associated with the bank. For this loan, farmers will not have to submit any mortgage or documents. Jayesh Radadiya has appealed to the farmers not to take money at high interest rates. He said that farmers can come to the bank and take loan after getting membership.
Radadiya is the son of Saurashtra's veteran farmer leader and cooperative leader Vitthal Radadiya. Even though the party sidelined him some time ago, he had proved his dominance in the cooperative sector. Radadia's dominance in the two largest cooperative institutions of the country has increased.
